Does Canon really have to strive for a 24x36mm sensor?
IMHO, they don't. The D60 didn't have one; Nikon doesn't have one; the yet-to-be-named Olympus 4/3 system won't have one. If the chip performs, the file will produce good images. The 24x36 size does little other than render a 50mm lens as a 50mm lens. Fortunately most of us can multiply by 1.5. :-)
