What is then the exact meaning of the EOS 1Ds? Is it an accident? In my opinion a 24x36 mm sensor size does more than keep the focal of the lenses. It allows getting more number of pixels and, finally a better image quality.
For how long? I suspect sooner rather than later more won't necessarily mean better. The state-of-the-art in CCD & CMOS design is progressing too rapidly to predict.
