I haven't looked the last few days to see if it
changed but the MTF curves on the Canon USA website
for the 40mm end are absolutely CRAP.  However, on the
DPReview message board, someone noted that the MTF
curves at Canon Japan are much better and look very
close to the 16-35 L.
