Hi Lee,

During the last Photokina in Cologne, Germany I had the opportunity to look
through this lens. Playing with it I noticed it to be a little dark and slow
on the autofucus. Not a strange thing as this lens is f5.6L and has first
generation autofocus. The lens was introduced in July 1993, making it almost
10 years old now. With 16,5 kg the thing weights almost 3 times heavier than
my 400mm/f2.8. So you will need a tripod, which adds even more weight.

I can't wait to get my hands on the IS-version (after I win the lottery
first).

:)

Cheers,

Iwan Bogels

Not that I can afford it, but any idea what the image quality is like? I'm
curious what 111,000 Euros buys, other than super long reach.
