Mainly I find the rubber hoods break apart. And sometimes this is a
good thing to avoid vignetting - the outer ring will detach.

You can afford the Canon hood. I like the way they reverse and they
are well flocked inside. Overall there is no real cheaper option. I
hate unscrewing to put a filter on for one thing.

This is my advice.
