Hi Tim,

It was just getting nuts with the equipment! So I made the decision to
minimize and simplify to the max. yet still allow the system to cover
everything I used to shoot with less. Being a sports oriented shooter, when
I made the decision to jump into digital I tried to take advantage of the
EOS D60's 1.6X and EOS 1D's 1.3X 35mmEFOV factors in re-building my lens
system. I'm down to 5 lenses (OKAY, OKAY 7, I didn't count the EF 28-105
3.5-4.5USM and I'm giving the EF 35-80USM to my niece, really!), and an EF
1.4X converter. But I think I'm in need of OMG yet another (my THIRD!), EF
300 4L IS to get the reach I'm used to having on tap but I'm trying to
resist this based on my previous EF 300 4L IS lenses' optical performance on
film.

I would be foaming at the mouth with a hot item sitting there on my desk but
not useable, you have much more patience than I my friend! I had B&H send
me a couple of new zoom lenses (you're right the 70-200 2.8LIS is
fantastic!), and a spare NiMH battery for the EOS 1D a couple of weeks ago,
same two box shipping. I think this is due to B&H filling orders from more
than 1 warehouse. This is a common practice in the computer and electronics
industry. It makes much more sense to send the items where they are found
and picked and ship them directly but separately than to send them to a
central shipping point and then out a customer location. One has to wonder
if the common shipping industry practice of have hub cities (single point
distribution centers), is as efficient as they think them to be. I think
that if they would look at the IP model of switching that they could realize
a significant savings in terms of package miles and energy costs. Opps,
forgot where I was. I noticed this about B&H when the link that HP sent me
to track my new goodies showed that there were more than one package and
that they originated from different points.

Yup, I love my Domke bags. But now I've discovered that I need a different
bag for the EOS 1D, that is one deep body! The height and width are the
same as an EOS 1n w/booster attached but it is so much deeper that is no
longer fits in my small F3X bag! I also have a Domke bag for my tripod,
will the bag still fit your pod with the A-S ballhead mounted? A nice bit
of extra protection for the ball head is to use a padded bag with dense
polyurethane padding with a drawstring and cord lock to cover and protect
the head, it helps to keep out the dirt and debris that I always find in my
tripod bag for some reason.

Anywho, big US secrets or not I hope it goes as smoothly as you think it
will. If it's like here in the US nobody is even looking at it an it's just
sitting on a shelf for a few weeks until some one manages to find it and
figure out that it's a common part these days. Good luck on this and keep
us posted re: CF card performance on your 1Ds.

Cheers/Chip
