Do you have any comments for when ambient light is sufficient?  Would you
simply use EC +2/3 stops and keep flash EC at -1 to -1.5 stops (for
fill/catchlights if needed)?  I may be shooting a wedding in a few months
that is outdoors and could be very well lit.

What metering mode are you using?  Center-weighted or partial?

Does anyone still use Gray cards?  I've got one I could bring along...
