That is interesting - so far I figured sytem's fill-flash (ETTL +
automatic reduction) is the most reliable and spot-on - produced
wonderful results either in full daylight ot in shade.
The system adds just a touch of flash to opn up the shadows and in most
tricky situations (where no shadows needed to be opened up) the only
sign of flash was a touhc of catch lights in the eyes.
I couldn't dear about such fill-flash performance when owing Minolta
system.

Having said that, must admit I never encountered such wildy contrast
sweep situation with my Canon system as at typical for wedding couple,
perhaps in this case I would indeed figure out manual aproach would
yield better results while automatic reduction would screw up.

Quite a compelling reason to setup my own tests prior to making any
conclusion that would influence a serious work.
