The 1n behaves the same way. So in M mode I have to press the small button
on the back and turn the main dial to change the settings. The only way to
use the back wheel for that is by changing the CFn back. Since the 1n seems
to behave the same way as the 10D I assume you can do the same thing. You
might also want to check the manual. In my manual for the 1n that procedure
was described.

At first sight all this seems kind of cumbersum but changing the function of
the back wheel depending on the mode you are in is probably more confusing
then helpful.
