Well, I'm on the market for a MiniDV camcorder, but have no a clue in video. I would certainly strive to get best quality, but right know restricted to 700-900 US$ range, so I guess 3xCCD models are out of question, until I would came to the conclution that these models would still give me way better performance that is easily noticeable in terms of video and still imaging. What I need are: 1. reasonably high video resolution (I guess 1MP and over). 2. Reasonably good still image capture (of course, cannot be comparable to the one achieved by high-end still film-based camera through high-quality optics). 3. Good optics, optical zoom range (don't care digital zoom) 4. Image stabilization (preferably optical) 5. Reasonably good low-light/indoors performance. 6. An external hot shoe (for accesory light, for instance) is nice to have. 7. Small form-factor 8. Good battery performance with condition reporting. 9. USB2.0/IEEE1394 connectivity (for PC) besides of usual A/V in/out. I realize there are four major brands around: Sony, Canon, JVC and Panasonic, so would like to stay within this mainstream. Among these Sony sounds to be most popular and featured by Zeiss optics, though Canon boast optical image stabilizer. What features/specifications should I look for checking offerings on the market ? I would appreciate any opinions and personal experience. Best regards, Alex __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
