I just got a new-to-me (but gently used) Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 lens (the older 72mm filter model). I put it on my D10 and it took a few photos. I then added my 420 flash and started getting the "Err 99" code on the 10D, which the manual decodes as "an error other than the above" and tells me to take out and re-install the battery. I did so, but then I could not take even a single photo before I got the error again, with or without the flash. I replaced the Sigma with one of my Canon lenses, and it worked fine, with and without the flash. Is this possibly a sign that the lens needs to be re-chipped? If so, will Sigma re-chip a lens for me, even if I am not the original owner?
