Thanks for all the quick answers. Meanwhile I spoke with Canon Germany
to hear what they say. And their conclusion is that it is a lens
problem and I should contact Sigma - however the Canon guy stated that
there seem to be a problem with sharpness in corners when Sigma lenses
are used with the 10D.

Then I called Sigma Germany, where the lens was repaired after the
fall. They told me that normally they check the optical system of a
lens after repairing. However, there is a chance that there is a defect
in the lens that they didn�t recognize. So I shall send in the lens and
they will look at the lens immediately. Now I hope that the damage is
repairable...
