I had the 75-300IS Zoom and exchanged it for the 70-200L with all the advantages you
can think about, like:
-far superior image quality.
-far superior mechanical building and focusing performance (the 75-300IS is slow,
impercise and focus with the front element, wich I found a bit irritating).
-The IS is a bit of an ilusion for sports because, if you don't have enough light, you
still have to go for slow speeds... (the IS doesn't boost the light) wich means that
the IS is only fabulous for panning blur! if this is what you are looking for, then go
for an IS lens (but not the 75-300)
....and when you might need the "extra" mm, between 200 and 300, ~f5.6 might be too
slow...
Don't even think about it twice, go for the 70-200/f4.0
