Not a lot of good for testing edge to edge sharpness if you later end
up with a full-frame sensor ;o)



Seriously, "it depends" is the best answer.   There is no way you can
record sub-pixel detail on any system either by digital capture or by
scanning a film.  For many types of photography intricate detail is
really totally irrelavent - so it's not that helpful to dwell on it.
Worrying about resolution is so "last week".

The bigger picture is that cameras like the D10 can produce bloody
good shots - wish I could afford one.
Cameras like the 1Ds (never can remember which way round the D and 1
go ;o) produce even better shots - *really* wish I could afford one.
