The 10d is a fine lens testing base. I have compared several lenses, including the 100-400, the 50/1.4, the 85/1.8 and a cheapo 35-105. When it gets to the point that you can't see the difference on the 10d, I frankly don't think it matters. And if you think it does, well why don't you just go and shoot in large format.
