Unlock the lens and rotate it slightly, as if taking
it off.  This will most likely solve the problem.  As
I recall, and I'll have to hunt and see if I can find
the reference, mounting an EOS lens flips a little
lever in the lens mount (on the body) that tells the
camera an auto lens is mounted, and the camera then
expects certain signals though the contacts.  When it
doesn't get them, it gives the error 01 code.

Some T adapters replicate the EOS mount a bit too
faithfully, and trip this lever.  Not all T mounts do,
however.  The one that came with my Russian fish-eye
works fine.  So you might try a different adapter, or
you might search the web and see if you can figure out
where to file off part of your existing mount.

I'll see if I can find the reference I had before.
