Back in September I reported that I'd lost the use of two lenses on a heritage
day out. Am pleased to report that I've now got both of them back, and working.
The repair to my Canon 80-200 (cheapo) was a straight replacement of the
aperture unit (which had failed whilst on my 10D), whilst dropping my Sigma
17-35 on the concrete pavement required more serious repairs. Sigma have
repaired the zoom and focus mechanism, and this necessitated replacing the outer
lens barrel changing the serial number from what I assume was an early 10017xx
to 10096xx. It certainly feels much smoother than it did before I dropped it,
and my first trial shots are sharp.
More trials tomorrow.
