There nothing illegal about me copying and distributing dupes of images you took either then, even if I do charge a small fee for the service which I don't share with you, and even if I never got your permission in the first place, is there?
Maybe Canon shouldn't copyright them, and maybe the law's stupid (another topic for another thread) but either you're flouting the law and the creator's rights, or this is an act of civil disobedience, which as a child of the Woodstock era I have to applaud. :-)
