I don't think an internationally recognized registry exists. However, most manufacturers keep their own. When some of my Leica stuff got swiped, I called Leitz and provided the serial numbers. If any of the equipment comes in for repair they will notify me. I think they will also refuse to repair it. Iwould guess Canon would have the same thing. Javier
