Which is all I'm looking for (I just think the backlight will die again and I want to do it cheap).

I'm in the USA, by the way.

Also, has anyone used Precision Camera & Video Repair in Enfield, CT? Canon recommended them as a place to get the EOS 620 looked at (as Canon doesn't repair them anymore).

Is anyone else disturbed that Canon won't even try to repair a camera that is part of their current system, even if it is an early model?

What's Canon going to do in 4 years when your $7,995 EOS 1Ds has a problem?

LOL. Robert's method is not exactly a "repair" to restore function to the
broken backlight, but rather a "hack", just to disable the light.
