Hi guys. I finally did some playing around with my 550EX and 10D. I
know shooting with ambient and using flash fill is a piece of cake
with these systems, but I was wondering about when light is low and
you use flash for the main light. What does ETTL do for us then. It
turns out it needs your help in many situations to compensate. So I
saved some tests and put them up on a page:
http://jimdavis.oberro.com/html/flash.html

Anyway FEL rocks! I never really remember to use it but after finding
out what happened when I used the flash as the main light, I decided I
had to learn more about it.

And FEC, which I have in camera, now with a backlit LCD, allows me to
on the fly to manually tweak all my shooting. The trouble is knowing
how much to tweak.

This is sort of a follow up to my 'curves' testing, regarding
maximizing the quality of digital images by getting your histogram
fully expanded to the right. But not quite all the way to the right.
:-)

Comments please, things are slow, let's talk about EOS flash and all
those special functions we might not all have used yet.
