According to this the older Canon DCS Digital SLR
series used to be compatible with TTL. Not anymore. 

AFAIK, The newer D-SLR bodies (300D, 1D, 10D etc.)
seem incapable metering off reflected light from film
(which is how the TTL flash system works, in principle
at least)  because they don't have any, hence no TTL
flash compatibility. On these bodies the E-TTL
compatible flashes/modes and the 480 EG are shown as
workable.
