Hi Joe, I don't know where you are but why not just send it in. All you will be doing if you try to fix it yourself is muck up a good lens. The slower Canon teles/zooms like the EF 200 2.8L, EF 300 4L/IS and EF 70-200 2.8L/IS all have removable tripod collars that use felt and Delran or Teflon blocks to allow the collar to rotate. Canon's larger teles like the EF 200 1.8L and up lenses are much heavier requiring different rotating collar designs and do not have removable tripod mounts. Repairing the tripod mount on these lenses requires partial lens disassembly to service the tripod mount right.
