Just curious... Why do you avoid 100% viewfinders?

Hi Eric,

Well, for film cameras they make little sense to me. If I shoot slides,
there are all mounted and I lose a portion of the area that I would be
seeing in a fill frame. If negatives, even a 4x6 print is slightly
cropped down from a full-frame unless you specify you want the full neg
printed. For enlargement like an 8x10 (rarely have I used or printed
8x12) a size that is also closest to a magazine cover, you lose a good
piece of the edges on the longer side. So overall I prefer a viewfinder
like on the EOS3 or Elan that IMO shows a better approximation of the
final result. Bear in mind this is my choice and decision, I am very
happy with it. Others may see it differently.

Case in point, in Alaska I was shooting with a 1V (100% viewfinder). I
caught a beautiful image of an eagle in flight with wings just touching
the edges of the frame. When the slides came back the wing tips were
tucked beneath the slide mount. Never again did I use a 1V.
