Just when does an EOS lens (or any lens) gets to infinity? While there is usually a bit of over travel in the focus adjustment to compensate for expansion in elevated temperatures, is there a quick and dirty rules of thumb when the subject is beyond a certain distance away, and based on the focal length of the lens, that one can put the lens in manual focus mode, line up the focus mark to the infinity sign in the focus window on the lens, and just start shooting away?
