I don't think any of it is necessary either. Consistancy is what you
need. Find the right colour temperature to view your prints and you
will be able to adjust them to the prints you get back easily enough.

On the same subject, my Viewsonic recently died so I bought a nice new
Mitsubishi Diamondtron M2, 19 inch CRT. It's not an expensive monitor,
but wow it's really nice!

I never had any trouble before with the Viewsonic and this one is the
same. The Frontier gives me what I see on screen with simple Adobe
Gamma. I'm running at 8000 K, which I find a good balance between cold
and warm.

I'm a gamer so this monitor is super for me. It has a special Super
Bright button that goes into two extra modes of brightness. Most
excellent for gaming. I leave my basic adjustment for photo work. So I
actually have three modes that I can balance and adjust.
