Hi -
I have a lower-end scanner, a Canon FS2710, and I've had it about 3-4 years now. Fears of fairly heavy use, although not daily. Probably at least 2,000 scans. What sort of things go wrong with a scanner/sensor with age and use? The drive/carrier mechanism still seems fine, but it seems to me my scans are getting noisier, but it could partly just be me getting more sensitive to noise and knowing what to look for. And even though I'm using Vuescan, it seems to me I'm having a harder and harder time getting colors to look right, even in Image mode. I don't think it's my monitor, as viewing older photos still looks fine. And, is dimming a part of scanner ageing - is there a bulb/LED to replace?
Since this is my first film scanner, I don't know what deterioration to be on the lookout for. I'm not getting hot pixels or anything, just more overall noise it seems.
Thanks.
Ken
