I have a budget of about $1,200. I have a Rebel 2000 body and a SLIK tripod. I had a 28-80 kit lens, a Digital Rebel and a 85mm 1.8 which were stolen.
The only one I will miss is the 85mm. The rebel was nice, but there were a few things I wished it had, like choosing AF (AI Servo, One shot, etc.), saving RAW with a small JPEG, FEC, and a larger buffer. And a 28mm lens to behave like a 28mm lens ... :) Finally, I did not like having to worry about filling up the memory cards while away from the house. If I sticked to film, I'd probably buy an Elan, and as far as digital a 10D (but still too expensive) I am thinking while waiting for digital bodies to lower in price, I can still use my Rebel and get some lenses for now. I mostly like to shoot family portraits, and vacation pictures. I am hesitating between 20-35 f/3.5-4.5 $370 or 28 2.8 $170 or 35 2 $230 or 20 2.8 $420 (for wide angle shots since I live in Rome) Tamron 28-75 2.8 di $350 or 28-135 IS $410 (for vacations one lens solution) 85mm 1.8 $340 or 70-200 f4 L $595 (for portraits / kids pictures) Also I am thinking of getting a A310 digital for a 7 year old. Good or bad idea? Thank you for any suggestions/comments.
