If you plan to walk in and purchase be aware that a 9+% state sales tax is added automatically. I think only for internet purchases to shipping destinations in some states/international is the tax not charged (leaving it upto the buyer to be responsible/take care of any ST/GST in their respective jurisdiction)
Sales tax in NYC is currently 8.65%. No tax is added to orders shipped out of NY State. In theory a US resident living outside NY State is liable for "use tax," paid to the government of the state in which he or she resides, but in general that's a private matter. In the interest of full disclosure it's worth noting that at least once during the decade I've worked at B&H, we were audited by NY State's tax department at least once and NY State shared purchase data with other state governments with which it has reciprocity agreements and did so without telling us of their intentions.
