Well, I indeed mentally "threw away" (not physically :-) ) all the rest
zooms I used to onw in similar range once tried the 28-70L. Yes, of
course expensive (even though I've got used one Mint for 800$), just I
personally can justify that for 110% by gained optical quality.
No point in trying to justify the expense. Now I have no that common
feeling of compromise, because I know the only what can let me down for
a bad picture is my own technique (or lack of such) rather then
insufficient quality of my gear. That wasn't the case with my previous
lenses (though Minolta's 28-85/3.5-4.5 was a better shot among others).
But the best one if obviously the one that works best for you, no
doubt, this is why I wished you a good luck with your approach.
