I tried not to paint too black a picture, Jim! This is a good moment to publicly thank you for all your advice and encouragement, both on and off-list. I wish I'd listened to you earlier (about the 10D). With regard to that 'big hard drive' I'm hoping (though they are cheap enough, these days) that the portable CD-writer will be the answer as far as my own modest hard disk is concerned. As a matter of interest, I chose the Apacer CP-100 on the basis that an infinite number of CDs is preferable to a fixed size hard disk (either in the PC or in a hard-disk portable card-reader). Time will tell! But you're right, Jim. RAW files at 18MB each, and maybe their TIFF equivalents plus an assortment of JPEGs in various sizes have to go somewhere!
