Ah, the gentleman is acquainted with the classics!

There looks to be an unlabeled "eraserhead" in place of the previous QCD on/off switch, for photo review navigation and maybe focus point selection. The missing button on the top right is what I've always called the "mystery button" and Canon calls the assist button. I just now pulled up my PDF copy of the manual to see what it does - I don't think I've ever used it (intentionally, that is)

If the former (10D) power switch is now the QCD on/off switch, I think Canon has shot themselves in the foot - both because that's where we're used to turning it on and because it's too precious a control location to devote to a seldom used function. About the only time I've turned the QCD off on my 10D or 5 is if I'm lending it out to someone, so they won't accidently dial in exposure compensation. The QCD control could happily be buried in a custom function somewhere.

I must say, I'm one 10D owner with no desire to get a 20D - the feature upgrades are minor, and I've really got more than enough pixels anyway. I covet the 17-85 IS lens, though. My current main lens is a 24-85, and it spends a *lot* of time at 24mm. Losing a half-stop of lens speed (from f/3.5-4.5 to f/4-5.6) is probably more than made up for by the IS. Perhaps this lens will be amenable to the same "hacksaw" modification for the 10D that the 18-55 EF-S takes.

In some ways, I might be more inclined to upgrade to the next Digital Rebel, rather than the 20D - the 10D has proved to be a bit large and heavy sometimes. On the other hand, the 10D certainly has a lot of useful life ahead of it - I should sometime pay more attention to the sentiments in my email signature...
