Reminds me of buying a CD back in 85' before buying a CD player.... You will enjoy this new beast, go get a or borrow a lens quick as I find it's actually quite intuitive using the camera if you've used an EOS 3 or 1 Series before, obviously there are all the new digital specific elements. You will also have to get a couple of large (at least 1 GB) CF cards, a fast CF reader, and perhaps even some post processing s/w that is up to snuff, you may even have to upgrade your computer for storage and memory to cope with the large file sizes. I've shot over 2,000 frames (not all are keepers) in just one month and already have to archive the original large .jpg files off to CD-Rs, I will try the RAW files soon, that will eat up bytes even more quickly. The spending has only just begun !
