Almost two years of shooting with this lens, this is first time I hard
about existance of focus limiter switch on it. 
You must be confusing with other lens (probably 70-200/2.8L or alike -
they do have focus limiters. My 70-200/2.8L indeed have 1.5m/3m
switch).
I never heard about standard professional zooms offering such feature
(though I never personally held these of Nikon/Pentax/Minolta).
I wonder even more people kindly responded explaining properly this
feature but nobody pointed out the question of existance of this
feature in particular lens. :-)
