It wasn't any different with the 1n back then btw....actually, I knew 
more than the EOS crew (and that was back in '96 I believe....nah, 
even 1994, that's also when the DCS-series started....only Usenet as 
info-source, no web-sites that I knew of, not even a mailinglist 
(though very close! (hinthint!....;))

OTOH: if they really had wanted major media-attention, then they 
would have released it at least one month earlier, for proper 
magazine-coverage....and it's more an update than a all-new model 
anyway....

Now that Mamiya ZD SLR, fixed back, 22MP, for the 645-series 
lenses....*that's* a novel approach....an 1D on steroids....:))

Btw, *if* logistics in general were a factor, then why did Canon hand 
out those thick cover-all brochures, when asking for only the IS-
binoculars....:))
Plenty of other logistics going on too, early in the morning....just 
one more pallet-trolley in operation....:))
