Max with my original timer-module was 12 exposures (that runs you 
into the next afternoon....:)), current module does 20.

It's the basic user-interface you need, which requires at least some 
kind of starting point/time....can't be a black-box without any 
buttons....include LCD-readout (mine isn't illuminated, never got 
around to adding a LED on top), and rigging up something together 
that stays reliable in stress & adverse weather, while still 
ergonomic to operate, becomes quite a task.

Also, I searched for years before finding a module that would both 
run on 1.5v *and* consume only micro-amps (especially since the 
stored bracket is volatile).

It also made me search for universal connectors that were both small 
and reliable....I even found some that were screw-type *and* 
waterproof....lovely overkill for most applications, but I guess also 
very welcome for extended remote observations with nature subjects, 
with cables running through grass & dirt, and vulnerable to 
moisture/condensation....:))
