Didn't Canon stop the production of that lens, along with the 85/1.2L a
couple of years ago? From what I've heard, it was bulky and had a very slow
AF. Shame tough, it was the only competitor to the Leica M Noctilux 50/1.0
Canon has a tradition for making some of the fastest lenses on the market.
Why didn't they keep it on the catalogue? Those lenses aren't made for
profit anyway, but for showing the know-how of a manufacturer.

Indeed the 50/1.0L has been discontinued for a while. Not sure about the 85/1.2L but as you say, I think the AF is slow on that one as well, so it may also have been discontinued.


I can kind of understand that they stopped with the 50/1.0L, but the 85/1.2L seems more reasonable.
