Seems as though the 50f1.0 is sort of in a position of constant controversy, in that many people write about if that don't own one and have never used one. Its been called soft at the edges, lacking contrast, etc. I love mine and have found it a pleasure to use, with more than enough contrast and sharpness. I have shot it wide open lots for the depth of field magic, and bokeh, which I find quite nice. I wish they made it again with IS, then you could make just ridiculous indoor exposures. My other two favorite EOS lenses for contrast and sharpness are the gorgeous 135F2.0L, which I use for portraits, and my sports lenses, the EOS 300f2.8L (II), which is --superb-- in every area. I love the EOS sysyem, but if you want to see blinding contrast and sharpness, and almost 3D pictures or chromes, shoot with the Contax G lenses, 20/35/45/90, all are simply fantastic, on quirky cameras, but stellar lenses!!!
