Sigma HSM lenses DO NOT need to be re-chipped. This lens worked on all my SLRs, IIe, EOS3, 1V, etc.
that's good to know. No guarantee that it will work with the next Canon body though, but it's good to know it works for your bodies, and hopefully with all current bodies. Many of their lenses have required rechipping and since they don't have any license, it's not impossible that Canon will make some change to the circuitry that will require their lenses to be rechipped in the future unless they have perfectly back-engineered the system and there's no way to tell that for sure.
