It would appear that Ricoh has has a number of quite compact digicams with a 28-85 equivalent lens. The most recent is the GX8 (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0504/05042601ricoh_gx8.asp), but there a number of others. These lenses are about a half stop faster (f/2.5 - 4.3) than most other compact cameras too. The GX 8 also has sensitivities up to ISO 1600 - which is two stops faster than most.

        I've no idea how well they work as cameras, though...
