Based on recent history, the next xxD will likely be announced next
February, so what you need to decide is if you really need the improvements
offered by the 20D over your DRebel today. Features like improved flash
metering via ETTL-II, a larger and faster JPG frame buffer (40+ shots at
5fps), and a 33% increase in pixel count.

You might also consider a used 20D, which can cost as little as $1050 based
on recent ones I've seen on the Fred Miranda Buy/Sell forum.
