Forgot to mention, a very sad coincidence in this time & context: 

Kodak apparently decided to end their line of DCS SLR-camera's 
recently....
(with the rather appalling 'reassurance' that service would be 
guaranteed until 2008 (now you also know the life-cycle estimates 
from a manufacturer's point of view))

Shame, would have been a nice way to compete with Canon, with such a 
Dalsa chip, without micro-lenses....
