I think it all depends on your attitude to sensor cleaning. There are some that will hardly ever change a lens, and only then under surgical conditions, with vacuum-sealed rooms and rubber gloves. There are others who will gladly run around with digital bodies dangling from shoulders with with no glass at all, hoiking a lens out on the hoof through dusty desert. I think there is a sensible medium route to be taken. I do change lenses as often as I like - but I blow with my mouth around the area of the lens/body mount before removing a lens from the body, and a quick blow around the rear of the lens about to go on the camera before removing the rear cap. I never hold the open body so it is facing up. I change swiftly and avoid any obviously dusty conditions when changing. I use a canned air product (carefully) at the beginning of a session. Carefully means, camera in sensor cleaning mode, nozzle pointing at 4 or 5 inches from body lens throat, but first couple of squirts just away from the camera to check there's no liquid ejecting from nozzle, then a couple of squirts into the throat, then a couple away, then a couple into the throat again. Then end sensor cleaning mode - so that shutter closes and mirror returns to rest, then I repeat the canned air cleaning as above, but with mirror down, to ensure as little dust remains in the mirror box as possible. The a couple of quick squirts under the arms. That last bit is a joke BTW. I know some who avoid canned air like the plague and only use the finest Mongolian mink sensor swabs. But I have been crossing busy roads between intersections for 45 years and I'm still here. Sure it's safer to cross at the lights, but if you keep a careful watch, no problemo. YMMV! .02 Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
