Would someone here be kind enough to give me a little lesson on flash
second curtain sync? I know it can be used for making light trails
appear behind a vehicle rather than in front, but is that the only
purpose of it? Are there any other circumstances where it can be a
necessary or creative tool, such as in portraiture?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Steve
Hi Steve,
Here's a page of pics using second curtain sync...

Regarding when to use second curtain, really only you can be the judge
of that. For myself, there are no rules in photography, only
preferences. If it looks right, it is right ;-)

Wow... those are great Cotty! So the second curtain sync can give you
both some "movement" and freeze motion in the photo, with the blur
appearing where it should?
I agree,... rules are made to be broken... and flash sync is an area in
which I want to experiment.
Thanks,
Steve
