Hi David,

I really like your Waxwing photos, I think they are marvelous. They
are so sharp and lovely. But it looks like there is noticeable CA even
in these small images. Since you are using Leica glass, I find this
very surprising. Is it really CA or some other artifact?

Actually, now that I look a bit closer (especially at waxwing #3) it
looks like JPEG artifacts. What quality level did you compress these
images to? Perhaps you could upload a high-quality version (say 95%).

Anyway, great shots, looking forward to seeing more.

Regards
David

Thank you, David, for your kind words. It's amazing what can be done with a manual focus lens and a little patience.

First of all, I'm sorry, but I'm unfamiliar with the notation "CA". However, the artifacts that are visible are certainly from .jpg compression. I use "Pro-Jpeg" to compress files to 35kb. The compression is pretty stiff, to do that. Until very recently, I've been on dial-up and large files are a pain for those in that position. So I keep all file sizes as low as possible, for rapid uploading by dial-up users. The prints look top-notch!

I'm sorry, but because I sell prints of my shots, I do not upload high res images ... shots posted on the internet tend to turn up in the most amazing places!

Thanks, again, for your comment and for taking the time to look. :-)

Cheers!
