CA refers to chromatic aberration. This phenomenon is accentuated by digital sensors. You'll be able to find lots of information, from more reliable sources than myself, with a quick web search. Regarding compression, dial-up and selling of prints, I totally understand your position. I wouldn't expect you to upload hi-res images. I would still be interested in seeing images that hadn't been so heavily treated by the compressor though.
