I shoot 98%+ in raw format, and while it gives more dynamic range and
better opportunities to correct exposure, the *big* reason for me is
white balance. Shooting raw I can ignore white balance until I
convert them. If I have a stack of shots in the same lighting I can
set the white balance for one, and convert the rest with the same
settings. I don't only do this for "difficult" lighting conditions,
but for every shot. Ok, sometimes it's just selecting "daylight"
balance and click and go, but in a large minority it's fine tuned more
closely than that.

The second biggest reason for me would be dynamic range - you can pull
better shadow detail out of raw images than from jpeg.

Cheers,
Gary
