Confused is a good approximation.  When I think of something being
discombobulated, I think of a mechanical apparatus which is is broken,
but still working, and doing something very wrong from what it was
intended to do.

In the context of Dieter's quote-heading, I'm not so sure how he means
it to be taken.

I'm guessing that he is stating there that he has confused the issue by
quoting it and subsequently unleashing that confusion on all of us.  I
