A quick note of success:
You can successfully charge a 7.2v Li-ion Sony camcorder battery with the
Canon CG-580 battery charger supplied with the EOS 20D.
Background: I left my Sony charger at my parents over Christmas while
showing them my Katrina video.
Procrastination: I'm flying to Brazil tomorrow and figured I should charge
my camcorder. Surprise, the charger isn't there.
Solution: clipped some wires to the + terminal, - terminal, and D terminal
on the Canon charger, and pushed the wire ends into the Sony battery in the
+, -, and C terminals, respectively.
Result: camcorder battery all charged and ready!
