Use a tripod :-)  I've printed that size and slightly bigger from my 1DMKII.  
Prints come out great.  Can't overemphasise using a tripod though.  Stay with 
you max settings the whole way through the editing though.  Make sure you 
custom white balance as well.  The better the shot to start with the better the 
shot at the finish.  Use L glass or primes if you can as well as you'll want 
the sharpest pic you can get I'm assuming.

I got a request from a client for a photo shooting. One purpose they want to 
use the images is for posters at a size of 40x60cm (A2) / approx 23x16 inch.

I guess there shouldn´t be a quality problem with the files from my 1D Mark II? 
What´s your experience with printing at that size?
